Margaret Gee'eedoydaalno Olin Hoffman David

Margaret David is a Koyukon Dene midwife residing on Dena'ina Ełnena in Anchorage with her partner and 4 children. She grew up in rural Alaska and her maternal family are the Olins from the Yukon River village of Ruby, and her paternal family are the Hoffmans of Swiss settler lineage from Montana. She spent several years in rural and tribal community health promotion before becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2017 in order to work in the Alaska Tribal Health System supporting Native families during the transformative and foundational rites of passage of childbirth. She is also receiving training in traditional healing. As a co-creator of the Alaska Native Birthworkers Community, she works to expand perinatal community health programs and birthing options for rural Alaska Native people by remembering traditional practices and supporting more pathways for Indigenous birthworkers.
